People considering volunteering in a foreign country may like to draw inspiration from a number of Leeds students set to embark on a journey to India.
The group, from Leeds Metropolitan University, will be travelling to the country next month to help communities affected by HIV and Aids.
Not only will they be benefitting others, but also gaining valuable life experience themselves, making friends and sampling other cultures.
Sarah Kenning, a fourth-year Peace Studies and French student at the university, said she was "really excited" to meet new people and bring something positive to those less fortunate.
Similarly, second-year student Rosie Boyd was eager to work with people who shared her "passions for volunteering".
There are many positives to joining volunteering trips to India.
Recently one 70-year-old volunteer found a trip there helped him cope with his grief after being widowed, the Daily telegraph reported.
