Help orphans and bask in waterfalls by volunteering abroad in Jamaica People looking for something a little different from the typical gap year destinations are being given the opportunity to do something completely unique with a new volunteering abroad in Jamaica project from i-to-i.

The specialist in gap year travel and volunteering abroad projects is offering a brand new adventure entitled Teach and care for orphans and underprivileged children in Jamaica – an experience that will never be forgotten.

Participants will assist the orphanages and schools set up by Maureen Wright Evans at the idyllic Smokey Vale in St Andrew, watching the children’s progression, bonding with them and learning more about their culture and way of life.

At the weekend, travellers will be free to enjoy nearby beaches, gaze at the sweeping views of Kingston, go hiking in the Blue Mountains or even visit the cascading waterfalls of the Dunn River.

The opportunity to try some of the country’s most famous and delicious dishes – such as curried goat, salt fish, ackee and delectable jerk chicken – will also present itself.

Including accommodation in a white-washed guesthouse on a hill, the volunteering abroad in Jamaica project costs £595 for one week and can be extended for £300 a week thereafter.
