Those who choose to take a gap year in Mozambique will find that they have a "vibrant and welcoming" experience, it has been claimed.
The Guardian, which has named the country as one of its top destinations of the decade, described the nation as having been "tortured" by internal problems in the past.
However, it added, this has now changed as peacetime has unveiled a unique, welcoming and vivacious destination.
According to the newspaper, the country boasts "new-found political stability, shimmering beauty and a 1,500-mile stretch of white-sand coast barely touched by developers".
This reflects the opinion conveyed last week by Mercedes Bailey, a specialist at To Escape To, who stated that the country is largely undiscovered by travellers, which could make it an adventurous destination for those on a gap year in Africa.
