Those looking to volunteer abroad may like to draw inspiration from a company of volunteers aiming to help out a region in Cambodia heavily affected by landmines.
In November, the Mines Advisory Group will be leading a team of individuals to the Siem Reap province – taking part in a trek through the jungle on Kulen Mountain and passing by the ancient site of Ankor Wat on the way.
There, the collective will be set the task of constructing a home for a family that resides in one of the most landmine-populated regions in the South-East Asian country.
Lisa French, who was involved with the scheme last year, said it was "such a privilege to be involved in a project that really changes the lives of Cambodians affected by the horrific injuries caused by landmines".
Last month, Douglas Clayton, founder of Leopard Capital – a market fund manager – remarked that Cambodia is experiencing one of the world’s fastest financial growths, making it gradually more attractive to visitors.
