Gap year travellers heading to New Zealand may like to go airborne to experience views of the country’s capital city from a new perspective.
The cable car ride in Wellington, which takes passengers to the summit of Mount Victoria, has been recommended by Suite101.com.
And the website noted that "spectacular views are afforded of Wellington Harbour and city" as the trip – which leaves Lambton Quay every ten minutes – draws to a close.
The car heads off through the city’s shopping and business districts, travels beneath tower blocks before rising past Kelburn Park and Victoria University and takes visitors to the upper terminus and the Cable Car Museum in around five minutes.
Return tickets cost $3 (£1.40) for an adult, $1 for children and a family concession is $14.
Air New Zealand recently launched its Skycouch offer, a scheme that allows passengers on long-haul flights to catch some sleep by converting their seats into makeshift beds.
