Gap year travellers ‘can keep up to date in Australia with new iApp’

Gap year travellers ''can keep up to date in Australia with new iApp'' Gap year travellers venturing to Australia’s Northern Territory (NT) will be able to keep abreast of the region’s latest news and information thanks to the launch of a new application.

OutbackNT is a tool that iPhone and iTouch holders can utilise to access interactive maps and images, set up itineraries, view upcoming events and local attractions, and even choose where to eat.

The app is available to download for free and can be used in areas too remote to gain internet reception – which may prove valuable when deep in the country’s outback.

George Christakis, sales and marketing manager for Tourism NT – UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Nordic, said: "This innovative new app allows visitors to get the very best from their trip to the Northern Territory."

Last month, travel writer Richard Madden, speaking on behalf of Tourism Western Australia‘s Experience Extraordinary campaign, recommended the vast terrain of the country’s western coastline as it offers something different from the usual tourist destinations.
