Travellers planning to go on a gap year should find that securing the right travel insurance is relatively straightforward, according to one expert.
Tom Hall, travel editor of Lonely Planet, claims that people should take care to ensure that everything they need is covered, highlighting that this is true whether they are embarking on traditional 12-month gap years or shorter journeys.
And recent research from LV= Travel Insurance shows that more travellers may be opting for 'snap years' than previously, with 2.75 million Brits planning such a trip within the next 12 months.
"Coverage is key. Take care to ensure everywhere you're visiting is covered and that any activity, hazardous or otherwise, is mentioned in your policy with a decent level of excess," comments Mr Hall.
He adds that individuals should always carry their cover documents with them and keep emergency numbers at hand wherever they go.
