The Sao Paulo Film Festival could be the ideal event for travellers on a gap year in Brazil who want to sample some art and culture while on their adventure.
According to the Associacao Cultural Kinoforum – a cultural and not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote Brazilian film – the festival is set to take place from August 25th to September 2nd.
The body states it is the "leading event for short films in Latin America", but also features productions, such as retrospectives, tributes and digital films, from other countries around the world.
At last year's event, 71 films were on display, despite some 1,900 being entered by keen filmmakers.
The organisation noted that the festival is a place where visitors can enjoy a wide range of genres, stating: "The quest for love and beauty is something that always moves film makers. And even in times of crisis, or maybe exactly because of that, comedy is never forgotten."
