Comedian Dawn French has confessed to a major love in her life – the awe-inspiring landscapes of popular gap year travel destination New Zealand.
Writing for the Telegraph on her most breathtaking travel experiences, the charismatic comedian flies the flag for New Zealand, stating that it is "peaceful, unspoilt and friendly".
She points out that the country has many activities to offer people of all dispositions and admits that she and her Husband Lenny Henry declined a bungee jump for "the latte and ice cream, not to mention the wine".
A highlight of her trip to New Zealand was visiting the Rotorua region, which is home to geysers, natural springs and hot mud pools.
Finally, those who have not yet visited the country but are considering a gap year or volunteering abroad project in the region, French concludes that it is "rather like Scotland, only warmer".
For those who wish to visit New Zealand’s idyllic South Island, Lonely Planet plans to release a guidebook dedicated to the area in April.
