The Canadian High Commission (CHC) has opened up visa flexibility for those wishing to take gap year travel, volunteering abroad work or sabbaticals in the country, it has been revealed.
Previously only available once in a lifetime, the Open Work Authorisation Visa is now being offered through the Work Canada programme.
Under the terms of the visa, gap year travellers can travel around the country and take any kind of employment along the way.
Deputy director of the BUNAC programme Libby Law stated: "Casual work – in the traditional areas of hospitality and customer service – still isnt hard to find, as long as youre flexible."
Furthermore, next year, Canada is playing host to the Winter Olympics, at which travellers could either work or enjoy watching some icy sports.
Meanwhile, UK TV presenter and former journalist Kate Thornton this week told the Telegraph newspaper that she will encourage her son to embark upon gap year travel when he grows up.
