Cebu Pacific supports Philippines’ sustainability

Posted 09 Aug 2011

Cebu Pacific supports Philippines'' sustainability Cebu Pacific (CEB) has announced a continuation of its Bright Skies for Every Juan scheme, which is geared towards tackling global warming.

Renewing its partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Philippines), CEB will now offer its passengers the chance to support several reefs in the Philippines.

CEB customers can make donations while booking their flights, the airline reveals.

They will be given information on how much their route will affect their carbon footprint and therefore will be able to donate funds to effectively offset their resulting emissions.

Contributions will be distributed to the Apo and Tubbataha Reefs, as well as the Sablayan community.

Lance Gokongwei, CEB president and chief executive, comments: "We decided to continue our Bright Skies for Every Juan program until 2014 because we are committed to help[ing] coastal communities adapt to climate change and encourage our guests to be responsible travellers."

He adds that the carrier intends to expand this scheme during the next three years, which may appeal to gap year or career break travellers interested in climate change.

Launched in 1996, CEB offers both domestic and international flights, as well as operating the youngest fleet in the Philippines.
