The Cambodian government has launched a new tour which it hopes could trigger a surge in the number of foreign visitors.
Improved transport links between four coastal provinces and Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island have been established.
According to tourism minister Thong Khon, this could potentially encourage more holidaymakers from overseas to visit the region.
In addition, the links to Koh Kong, Posat, Kampot and Kongpong Song could be useful to people who are enjoying a gap year in Cambodia.
Indeed, Mr Kohn said the Asian country is currently attracting a greater number of visitors each year.
He stated that annual visitor numbers could potentially reach three million within the next three years.
However, Mr Kohn added that much of the infrastructure in Cambodia will need to be upgraded in order to handle the extra capacity.
People who are visiting may also wish to sample attractions elsewhere in the country, such as the colonial architecture in capital city Phnom Penh.
