The majority of Britons say they would rather sacrifice every day luxuries than give up travelling.
In a recent survey carried out by cruise118.com, 77 per cent of people said they are making packed lunches for work in an effort to save money.
Furthermore, 63 per cent of people said they are prepared to cancel their gym memberships if it means staying afloat during the credit crunch.
However, when it comes to holidays it’s a different story altogether.
Of those polled, six per cent said they would be prepared to sacrifice their hard-earned holidays.
Commenting on the findings, spokesperson Mal Barritt said: "The feedback we got is that people are very reluctant to give up their holiday, with many considering it a necessity rather than luxury.
"It seems that holidays are more important than ever at a time like this, giving people something to look forward to and the chance to escape their worries for a week or two."
In related news, the Telegraph reported earlier this week that gap year travel is likely to flourish during the downturn, as people spend their redundancy packages on escaping to warmer climes.
