Gap year travellers in Thailand might wish to make their way to the capital, Bangkok, as the city has been applauded for its kind and good-natured occupants.
The dignified and honest people of the bustling tourist hot-spot make the location a definite must-see, writes Mark Palmer for the Daily Mail.
He says the kindness of the locals is the reason why "Thailand’s capital deserves to be called the City of Angels and why it warrants far more praise than it gets".
Palmer records that during his three-day visit he met some of the "gentlest" people, was humbled by their warmth and kindness and was made to feel relaxed in such a high-paced environment.
It is a viewpoint shared by Joanna Cooke, the UK and Ireland marketing manager for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, who recently observed travellers delight at the welcome reception they continually receive in the country.
