Australia ''luring Canadian gap year students'' Prospective gap year students in Canada may want to take note of the new one-year working visas being promoted in Australia.

They allow a Canadian graduate to work and travel their way across the southern hemisphere country for up to 12 months, according to Global Visas.

Daryl Hudson, Tourism Australia‘s vice-president for the Americas, said that the current economic situation makes now the right time for people to pack their bags in search of new experiences.

He explained: "With such a tough job market at home … now is the time for Canadian graduates to seriously consider taking a trip to travel in Australia and pick up some work along the way."

An enhanced CV and broadened horizons will allow a traveller to return home with greater employment prospects, he added.

Climbing Sydney’s Harbour Bridge has recently been ranked among the world’s top ten ‘adrenaline rush experiences’ by travel guide Lonely Planet.
