Gap year travellers hoping to spend time in Argentina may welcome the assertion that the country is no longer a once in a lifetime destination.
Leonardo Boto, executive director of the Argentine tourism body INPROTUR, pointed out that the number of UK travellers visiting the country, which has long been a backpacker favourite, is on the increase.
He claimed there are numerous attractions on offer in Argentina, from stunning landscapes and unique wildlife, to rich culture and luxurious accommodation.
"The country satisfies the needs and interests of high demanding and knowledgeable travellers," he remarked.
Mr Boto said there are also several events coming up towards the end of this year and into next, which may interest those on gap years in Argentina.
These include the Daktar Argentina-Chile sports racing competition, which will be held in January 2011, and the Palermo Polo Open, which takes place in Buenos Aires in November and December 2010.
