Gap year travellers might want to take part in an activity holiday in Kenya as the vacation has been recommended by a travel writer.
Sebastian Lander, reporting for the Daily Mail, headed to the Mnarani Club in coastal Kilifi – north of Mombasa – to try his hand at some pursuits there.
He attempted a range of activities in the water, including sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving and kayaking.
Away from the sea, visitors can go on a bike ride across the region or even embark on a safari at the Tsavo East National Park, which is a three-hour drive from Kilifi.
Mr Lander did just this, as he stayed in the "idyllic" Galdessa Camp and saw "plenty" of wildlife, including zebras, buffalo and giraffes.
A new "luxury" tented camp is due to open in Kenya in December 2010 as the Serena safari circuit attempts to further strengthen its status in East Africa.
