An activity holiday in Kenya ‘could be ideal’ for gap year travellers

An activity holiday in Kenya ''could be ideal'' for gap year travellers Gap year travellers might want to take part in an activity holiday in Kenya as the vacation has been recommended by a travel writer.

Sebastian Lander, reporting for the Daily Mail, headed to the Mnarani Club in coastal Kilifi – north of Mombasa – to try his hand at some pursuits there.

He attempted a range of activities in the water, including sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving and kayaking.

Away from the sea, visitors can go on a bike ride across the region or even embark on a safari at the Tsavo East National Park, which is a three-hour drive from Kilifi.

Mr Lander did just this, as he stayed in the "idyllic" Galdessa Camp and saw "plenty" of wildlife, including zebras, buffalo and giraffes.

A new "luxury" tented camp is due to open in Kenya in December 2010 as the Serena safari circuit attempts to further strengthen its status in East Africa.
