Every year, hundreds of Brits move to another country for a number of reasons from enjoying retirement to teaching English abroad – but there can be a lot to adapt to, one expat explains.
Peter Taylor and his wife Elizabeth moved to Wellington in New Zealand five years ago with their daughter Kelly for a new start, the Sun reports.
So five years ago, he moved with his wife and daughter to Wellington in New Zealand for a fresh start.
One of the hardest parts of moving was job hunting, especially as he was in another country, he told the Sun.
He has adjusted to the way of life though and said: "It is common to walk the streets barefoot and it is not unusual to see weekend shoppers in pyjamas!"
In the interview Mr Taylor added he would not consider moving back to Britain and New Zealand had exceeded his expectations and given him a better quality of life.
A survey by Homes Overseas has recently revealed that 40 per cent of Brits own or intend to buy a property abroad.
