Doing a little travelling, volunteering or taking a gap year abroad can serve to enhance the skill set and CV of job candidates, it has been asserted.
According to deputy chief executive of the National Apprenticeship Service David Wray, learning new skills on a gap year abroad can give a job applicant an edge over their competitors.
"The main thing people need to consider is how time between education and a job can be used most wisely, to put them a step ahead of the competition," the Year Out Group quotes him as stating in the Financial Mail.
Additionally, those considering a university course but do not know which direction they want to take yet could also use a gap year abroad to better mull over their options and work out what they are best at, Mr Wray advised.
Meanwhile, people who are considering taking a gap year abroad may like to think about a stint in Thailand if they are on a tight budget.
According to a research from Virgin Money Travel Insurance, Bangkok is the cheapest major city frequented by travellers in terms of eating, getting around and everyday living.
