Someone once said that the space around us is so flexible that it folds and expands, I believe this and see space as something alive...breathing.
When I was a child; skinny and with short curls, in an overgrown dress, I would climb the highest tree in our yard and look around. As strange as it was at that time everything seemed just at arm's length...it still feels like that today.
The Phi Phi Islands Southeast Asia will be a good place to start, a breath taking adventure should start with a bang, and there really is only little compared to the thought of waking up to a sunrise between cliffs, walking on crisp, soft sand, and snorkeling in clear blue waters, then it is off to Australia and the Kakadu National Park; We would visit the Jim Jim Falls, take a boat ride; watch the Crocodiles, Iguanas, plants and birds. Next stop Sydney, now here is a city with class with its glamorous maze of sandstone headlands, lazy bays and legendary surf beaches, not to mention the vibrant night life of the city itself, we would definitely take part in any and all festivals that frequently find their way through that region. Before leaving Australia we must see the Uluru (Ayers Rock), Australia's most sacred rock, and the Flinders Ranges, the shimmering red and purple folds of the majestic Flinders Ranges herald a truly stunning destination.
Hold on to you hats, because we are off to Antarctica for some winter fun, in a place that feels like you are walking on clouds with its towering majestic icebergs, and surreal stillness, there will be Penguins and Seals, I can only imagine what it will feel like to be just a few feet away from a polar bear (because that’s how close I want to get- yes yes dangerous I know but…) everything seems to be ticking / moving the winds are really strong here and "sea smoke" happens daily as icebergs begin to loss drastic temperatures. Sounds like a whole of fun, but maybe it is time to move on to the Mother land.
Africa, time is not an issue right!!, Well let’s go the Cape and see some really amazing Sharks (Air Jaws) I just started to learn how to scuba dive so this will be the perfect opportunity to ‘dive under pressure’, we would go Cage diving at Dyer Islands in Gansbaai, the channel between these islands is renowned worldwide to be the best place to observe; encounter and cage dive with the Great White Shark and is known as "Shark Alley". Moving inland we would be going to Kruger National Park, Lyubomir really hasn’t seen these animals –live so he would love the safari here, then it is off to Cape Town and the Table Mountain, the Waterfront, Cape Point, Robben Island, Beaches, and the Wine lands, we would like to see Durban ( well just because…) and then move on straight to the beach, and on to the Eastern cape for a little history at Port Elizabeth; surfing and bird watching are a must here. Further inland we will explore the Kalahari and Namaqualand with its renowned bright carpets of wild flowers, of course we will be tasting, well I would be eating in spite of the possible cases of IBS as much of the local cuisine and drinks, it should be known that in Africa- men!!, they really can cook. So here we are in Madagascar, a little bit off route as per going inland but we really do not want to miss the Madagascar’s plants and animals that have evolved into some of the weirdest forms on the planet as a result of a separation of hundreds of kilometers of sea and 165 million years of evolution. Nowhere else can you see over 70 varieties of lemur, including one that sounds like a police siren, the world’s biggest and smallest chameleons, and the last stomping ground of the elephant bird, the largest bird that ever lived. But the show must go on, so it’s back to Malawi, Tanzania and of course Mt Kilimanjaro, we would definitely be going on the twenty-one day tour on the Congo River and explore the rainforests, I would really like to take it slow here and maybe get a chance to see a Congo Gorilla, then it is off to Kenya where we could literally say wow!!! ‘That was a blast from the past’, it will be like the 40’s once again and we the explorers with endless wildlife Safaris; Camping, local foods and culture it just goes on and on and I guess we have ‘the Money’, so guess who will be packing in the souvenirs. Africa we haven’t even got started yet there is still Ethopia, a reality check in Sudan, Central African Republic, Cameroon, and then to Nigeria, it would be good to see the old girl again, I have lived there for over twenty years and if you really want to grow up strong and confident, imaginative and sane, this is the place for you, you need see the Sandy beaches of Asaba Koko Port Ajagbododu in Delta state, the Scenic view of the confluence of the rivers Niger and Benue in Benue state, the Emir’s Palace in Kano, Badagry: the first missionary post and houses the first two-storey building in the country in Lagos as well as the Jankara Market please do not go there wearing anything that looks a little bit valuable it would be ripped off you, and finally the supposed future of this infamous nation, its capital ‘Abuja’, the countries’ glamour in terms of modern Architecture and lifestyle, here the Christians ‘bedu’ there heart out to the sounds of drums, the electric guitar and Techno- disco tonic electric pianos. That was Nigeria but there is still so much to see, we should be on our way, there is the ‘Chad’, and Niger, Mali, Algeria, Lybia; the heartlands of the Sahara, we would be travelling through Sand sheets and dunes, mountains, stoney steppes and oases. I really want to do the Dakar rally one day on a Car or Quad, I haven’t decided yet so I am going to be watching the sands here, because this area of the competition really is the deciding factor to a possible completion of the tournament. Hey wait a minute the Dakar rally ends in Senegal, we can’t miss that and the ports of Serra lone, and then it is Morocco with its imperial city of Marrakech, Tunisia, and then Egypt ok I have a thing for pyramids, and I guess we will be checking pretty every single one, someone might not like that but he will have to bear, We just have to see The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, we just have to, and Medieval Cairo, Abu Simbel, Temples of Karnak, take a Felucca on the Nile, visit the Tombs in the Valley of the Kings, see the Siwa oasis, visit the Luxor Temple in Egypt, and round the tour up with a visit to the national Museum, no where modern so far, but we can do that in the Arabs.
We would begin in Jerusalem one of the oldest cities in the world and take a look at the establishment in Mea Shearim, also known as the Hundred gates, continue on to Via Dolorsa; the way of sorrow followed by Christ and even though it is just a path way now this place to me is a symbol of the fulfillment of hope in all that is important and good, a simple place indeed now but I shall enjoy it very much, and then it will be a visit to the Wailing wall , Garden of Gethsemane, Kidron Valley and then we would be leaving this old city after we have had a look at Mt Zion.
The Middle East is really a delight to the eye, you just want to keep looking and we can, so it is off to Lebanon where we would specifically visit the Qadisha Valley (Holy Valley) the “Holy Valley” spreads from Bcharreh to the coast and is classified under UNESCO's world heritage, with its countless caves, chapels and monasteries. Next is Syria and in addition to many historical sites in Damacus , Kassab, Tartus , we will go shopping for spices there are canisters on the shelves, of practically everything tingly, on to Saudi Arabia and a must see is ‘Riyadh’, remarkable Kingdom Center, here are the tallest building in Saudi Arabia, owned by a Saudi prince and built to an unusual elliptical award-winning design, we will spoil ourselves a little at the Four Seasons Hotel and a Spa Clubs, this time no Museums it will be shopping , shopping , shopping . Then it’s off to Iraq, with its ancient Citadels in Kirkuk, Arbil, and the Hatra ruins, I hope that all of this places will be accessible I really want to see something positive from there for a change, now its Iran and we are in a place called Kish, and its fabulous ,oval shaped coral-reef island , 15 km in lenght , 7 km in with and approximately 90 km in area , which lies in the heart of the warm transparent indigo waters of the Persian Gulf. Before we step into Asia we will need to see Kuwait and go Yachting; pearl diving, and spend one amazing night in the Burj Al Arab.
Asia here we come, it almost feels like we are going back to the beginning but not quite, I want to stop my entry here for now, In Nepal I would like some time to reflect on what I have done so far and the places I have been to, a trek to Everest base camp is just the thing, and yes the journey goes on from Asia to Europe, the Arctic, North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, and on to see the big picture that’s right, two tickets please from the Kennedy Space center and it is off to Space, I think that this would be the best part of all, our Blue planet hanging in invisible bands, it won’t be odd and we certainly won’t be the first to stare out of that Oval glass and watch the sunrise on this amazing planet while smooching Roast beef paste.
Thank you for reading all this it is a lot, but this is my idea of the Ultimate Adventure, I would really like to start with Thailand and I hope that if you really like this entry, Vote for me, and if you don’t like it please leave a comment, we learn new things every day, thanks CIAO !!
