Hi Naomi,
I volunteered for three weeks last March in Samrong village. It was the best experience ever. I went through i-to-i and stayed in the guest house provided and met other volunteers at the accomodation, in fact 2 others were on the same project as me aswell as meeting other volunteers in various other projects which gave me a great oversight of the other projects out there.
I taught english to the older chicldren who were fantastic (13-21years) all mixed levels. Youngest children in our orphanage was 6 years old. All the children were well provided for as in 3 meals a day, education, clothing etc. However not all the projects were up to scratch and some are even corrupt so be careful if you are going to be donating any money you know it will be spent wisely.
I wouldnt bring stuff from the uk inless its teaching material, as money on clothes, toys etc goes alot further out there.
Im not sure which project you have been assigned to but feel free to send me another email with questions and il do my best to answer.
Its such an amazing experience and three weeks was honestly not enough, i was definitely not ready to leave..
