Thanks for sending me your email address :) As soon as I've typed up my scrawled notes I'll send them to you! x

That would be grat yeah :) Kinda planning to strike off on my own... so I guess that would be helpful indeed.

None at all *blushes* There were a few phrases in the back of my guidebook, but the written Vietnamese looks so different from how you have to say it anyway that you really need to be taught by a local! I had a couple of hours with Alex the i-to-i co-ordinator when I arrived, he taught me lots. It's a really difficult language though - all about the tone of your voice when you say words. Not so easy to go down in pitch at the end of words when my accent naturally goes up!! I got by with just hello and thank you most of the time anyway - and lots of smiling! That's still the sum of my Vietnamese... that, and counting to 5!!
If you want me to dig out some of my notes from my lesson with Alex I will... will email you it if you want xx

As you mention it I do have a quick question...
How much Vietnamese did you learn before you went? And where from? I was thinking of taking a look in my local bookstore to see if they've got anything.

Cool :) I only made it as far as Sapa and Halong Bay, didn't venture South unfortunatly. Hanoi is great though, I'm sure you'll love it when you get there :) Give me a shout if you want any info :) I'm only to happy to talk about it, I loved it!!

Hey, I'm going to the Mekong Delta, so in the south. Once the contracts up I'm going to make my way north and finish up in Hanoi

Hi Mike, welcome to campfire :) Where in Vietnam are you going with i-to-i?? I was in Hanoi with them in May, it was great... x
