Campfire is i-to-i's Travel community.
It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!
Q: What is i-to-i campfire? A: It's the online community of the meaningful travel specialists i-to-i.com
I am 25 years old, living in Australia, New South Wales and about to start traveling next year for the first time, I am leaving to go to Africa to stay in Mombasa in April 2011, for 2 weeks, to do community work with children, I want to be a doctor, so I can make a difference to people's lives and hopefully help out as much as I can.
I've been to Honduras, Kenya and Uganda with i-to-i, 26...
What do I love about life? Hmm... that's tricky! Travelling...

Hey, you sound excited :) I love Mombasa, its one of my favourite places but I think thats because the kids I went to see are there! Do you know what project you're going to be on? So you want to know what Mombasa is like...well, if you read my posts, that gives you a good idea of every day life out there. Life is somewhat different to the developed world - the place is full of all sorts, red dust everywhere, very welcoming Kenyans also everywhere, matatus - a sort of bus system but its a bit of a free for all and each minibus is independently run, cattle and chickens and goats roaming free in the street, street sellers selling everything from local snacks and food to brick and brack to mattresses and shoes and clothes, the beach of course - infact the whole coast line is fairly accessible if you want to go up or down it on a day off - beautiful, cheap cola :) - you can buy a coke for as cheap as 20bob in some places (20p in English money), people wanting to sell you things, people wanting to take you places, people wanting you to say hi to their kids, people wanting to shake their hands (did I say they were welcoming?) - pot-hole covered roads, etc etc etc... I love it!
