Happy Travels!
Hi, I see you went to costa rica, what's it like? just asking because I'm planning on going to teach English abroad and costa rica is one of the places I'm thinking of
wow. I'm off to Zambia, then Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya (doing projects in Zambia and Kenya), then I'm going to Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, NZ, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. I'm off on my own too, hoping I will meet plenty of people out there, when are you going?
Hey, good choice on your trip! I was really unlucky when i went- i only saw 1 turtle on night patrol but we did get to release some babies. It depends on the moon and tide etc cause the day we left that night they saw 5 turtles in 1 night! The patrols are always different depending on the tides theres 2 per night 1 at like 8-11pm and 1 at 1-4am, when i went one it rained ALL night, we got soaked. 1 we saw about 9 poached nests and a poacher riding off on a bike. Another 1 we started but it got called off because there was a thunderstorm out to sea and we had a high chance of getting hit (watching lightening out on the sea is so amazing!) you will get bitten to death by sand flies on your feet... and they want you to wear shoes but it didnt really make a difference... anything else just ask :) xo
Hey Kirsty!
Have you decided where and when you want to go yet, or what you want to do while you are away? I'm off round the world on my own soon, hoping to meet people on the way.
On the note of pennies in a jar I've just banked £194 in change I put into a big jar over the last 12 months!
Just save your pennies in a big jar, that's what I do! Sounds sad but they do actually mount up! Obviously not quite enough for a round the worlder or anything, but every bit helps right?!
Don't worry about not knowing anyone when you're travelling - that' the fun bit! I love meeting new people and chatting over a beer or ten. Everyone's in the same boat and happy to make new friends. It's great... and if you swap email addresses there's always a sofa to kip on if you're in their neck of the woods at some point in the future!
Got nothing booked yet :( I went to Vietnam with i-to-i this May, so am trying to save some money so that I can do something in 2010. Never been to Costa Rica, but I'd love to. You must be really excited!!
Hi Kirsty, welcome to campfire :) You got any trips planned for when you finish college? Rach x
