Well, all that's needed now is for me to pack my bag. I'll be off to a village outside Surin on Wed 19th Jan, 2011, to help look after elephants. I'm not as connected to this trip as I was to the South African lion one. I guess life has been pretty busy.
I'm a little intimidated, because the photos I've seen make it look like really hard work. My stamina isn't great, so I'm concerned that I'll get tired very quickly.
Hope I'll cope.
Hope that everyone I work with is nice and interesting.

Thanks for the update Katrananda! I appreciate the advice and have a better idea of what to expect now!
Samvock, I didn't end up going on this project, due to illness, but my daughter went and had the time of her life. I believe that you should take old clothes you don't mind getting dirty and wet, and some protective clothing for work in the fields, planting and cutting hay. Susan said that the hay is prickly and pokes through light clothing. Definitely a hat and sunscreen. You'll be sleeping on blankets on the floor, I think, and eating traditional Thai meals. Susan wasn't bothered too much by mosquitos, but they never bother her much. However, her best friend got bitten a lot. Susan had the best time ever and has been back again since her first trip. SHe loves it there so much.
I am looking into going on that same trip in September! Do you have any suggestions? How was it? I love elephants and travelling so it seems to make sense! Thanks!
