Strange laws from around the world….

Travelling the world is all about discovering new things and getting an insight into different cultures. Though we know it’s important to be aware that you’ll be coming into contact with lots of different traditions and views on life there are still yet more surprises involved in travel overseas!

Here are a few laws and urban legends that you might want to bear in mind when you’re wandering the globe…

France

It is forbidden to call a pig Napoleon.

Ohio, USA

It is against state law to get a fish drunk.

England

A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants – even, if she so requests, in a policeman’s helmet.

San Salvador

Drunk drivers can be punished by death before a firing squad.

Iceland

It's against the law to blow on lampposts.

Singapore

It’s illegal to sell bubblegum in Singapore

Thailand
It is illegal to leave your house if you are not wearing underwear.
Israel
Picking your nose on Saturday is forbidden.
Australia

It is illegal to roam the streets wearing black clothes, felt shoes and black shoe polish on your face as these items are the tools of a cat burglar.

Belgium

In Antwerp it is illegal to wear a red hat and walk down the main street (Het Meyer).

Denmark

Before starting the car, the driver is required to check lights, brakes, steering and honk the horn. He also needs to make a visual check to make sure there are no children underneath the car.

Saudi Arabia

It is illegal to kiss a stranger.
