Campfire is i-to-i's Travel community.
It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!
Q: What is i-to-i campfire? A: It's the online community of the meaningful travel specialists i-to-i.com
Hey All!
(I'm really bad at this blog stuff :( so bare with me)
Im Pete and im 22 years old from the East Coast of England. I love helping and meeting new people.
I am currently working as a Shop-fitter and volunteer as a community first aider, but I am looking to become a Student Paramedic in the future.
I am soon to be leaving for Africa, Kenya on 4th April 2009 to work on two i-to-i projects. One is in Nakuru (Building homes) and the other is in Mombassa (working at Orphanage)
I would love to hear from anyone either going on the same projects or like minded people.
All the best
We've been sending people to volunteer in Africa, Asia, Australasia...
I'm 26, I went to Mombasa last year to volunteer...
Hey I'm Tony, 28 and from Dublin. Heading out to...

Hope you don't mind but I'm shamelessly begging for votes (in 5th place right now!)
This competition literally means everything to me. I'm now truly beginning to discover who I am, and find the path I need to be on. Winning this trip of a lifetime, one that from a financial point of view I cannot ever really seeing myself being able to afford, would literally change my life, shake up my world and give me another perspective. I beg of you to vote for me more than any other competitor, because not only would I use up every single second of it to the nth degree and make the absolute most of it, I think it would make the most of me. A way to make new connections, spark new possibilities, and give light and hope. A trip to expand and explore, my location and my own mind. A trip. Of a lifetime. PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

Hey! How are you? I see you've been to Africa, what's it like? I'm going next year to South Africa. :)
Cool, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, I'm sure Mombasa will be just as good but its a good sign that you didn't want to leave. You must be in Mombasa by now though I guess.
My legs doing ok, got physio to try and get it as good as I can before I go so hopefully I'll be as back to normal as I can be by the time I arrive. It seems a little surreal sat at my desk at work thinking that I'll be in another continent in a couple of weeks, I can't wait. How's your tan coming along? Hope you've had nice weather :) Its been rainy here and we had a thunderstorm today!
You will indeed see me soon, will be nice to meet you.
Take care, Chagit.
Hey, how are your plans coming along for the trip? Are you getting excited? I fly out 3 weeks today, woop!
Glad to hear you're having fun- You'll have to let me know what Tanzania is like too. I'll be in Moshi August working in an orphanage. I'm itching to get out there now! Never been to Africa so the guys at work at ribbing me about the dangers out there.... trying really hard to ignore them (largely!) I'm really hoping to go on safari and Zanzibar (I've got a week in between my two placements). Do you know if i-to-i organise that sort of stuff??
Hey Pete,
I'm out in Mombassa doing the teaching project in July. Saw that you were heading out there too so thought i might get in touch!! I'm not sure how it all works and if people from each project are based in different places? Really hoping to get to know people before i get out there so it's a bit less daunting! How long are you out there for??
i know its pretty good on here in it. ye see you in a few days
hey up pete, yeah im off in a couple of days now so im buzzin! im also hoping to get on a safari at some point and ive heard that its cheaper in group bookings so maybe we can get a few people on it at the same? all depends on where and when i suppose! see you out there, all the best. tom
I know I'm staying in a house instead of the volunteer accomodation but aparently there only 10 mins walk away from each other so I shouldn't be too out of it. How exciting that you go in 4 weeks! I've got three months to go as of today! woop. But I just broke my leg so its just as well that I've got time to recover lol. I'm gonna be teachin English and generally helping out at an orphanage. You start in Nairobi right? Are you looking forward to it?
Chagit
im not really sure which one i shall be at, but its the project where i go to the same one very day.
see u there
