Although I'd done some travelling before, with friends and family, my Vietnam trip in May was the first time I'd gone it alone. I was 25 so not that much older than you will be. Going through i-to-i is a great idea for your first solo trip, because they're really supportive and you'll meet other people doing projects too. I can't wait to jet off again now, sod growing up!!
People will always have horror stories about travelling, but ignore them. Just be careful, and don't take any silly risks and you'll be fine.
Take it you're off to China then? I've never been, but my friend Rosie has and she loved it. Jealous!!
My contract at the school I work at now ends on August 31st and I just decided at 24 (25 next year) that it was about time I stopped dreaming about travelling and just did it. I'm really nervous now though and I've committed myself, loads of people have said its a bad idea and the descriptions that go with them are bizarre and slightly freaky, but I just want to go explore and see the world before I have to do some proper growing up and I'm dead excited, I just have no idea where to start. My Chinese teacher, Wendy, has been a gem and is really excited for me, I think if she had her way I'd be on a plane tomorrow, but where do you actually start?
Hi thanks for accepting my friendship and welcome to campfire! Where are you planning to go in September? I'm hoping to go away again in 2010 too, just got to save up some pennies first!
If you could spare two minutes to read and rate my Ultimate Trip blog,I'd be really grateful. If I win I can stop saving and start planning!
