I am just getting my feet wet in going abroad. I am going alone to Tanzania and am very excited but also very nervous. I don't know how many camera batteries to bring or even if my charger will be able to plug in anywhere. I'm also nervous about flying, getting around and stuff but am really looking forward to the experience.
We've been sending people to volunteer in Africa, Asia, Australasia...

Hey Cristy!
I'm heading to Zanzibar end of May to June time to teach. Are you planning on being on the mainland or a beach bum like myself while your there? x
its good to volunteer im also working with school in bungoma kenya and i will be visiting them to teach ecd and help them refurbish classesa after which we will visit the source of river nile feel free to send anyone willing to spend time with children this will be around feb 2010.
HI Christy, great to hear from you. I too am reallly excited about my trip but also a little apprehensive as I have never been abroad alone. I have arranged a career break and will be in Tanzania for about eight weeks from 5th June. I will be based in Moshi and will likely be staying at the volunteer house there and will be working in the orphanages and doing community health education I think as this is my background. I will be doing the 'safari' trip and will alos be climbing kilimanjaro before a week on the beach in Zanzibar. I return home on the 1st august - hopefully completely fulfilled having given something back and also changed and improved by the experience. I hope to 'find myself' away from being someone's wife, mother, daughter, sister, boss, work colleague etc. though I have to confess the thought of leaving my new grandson is not appealing! Still, it is a short space of time out of a lifetime. Anyway, enough - hope to hear more about your story soon.
bets wishes
