Hey mate - think I'll be bumping into you in rio. Should be an awesome adventure!
Heya! Yeah the co-ordinator emailed me back and he says he tries to organise a carnival event for us for cheap and good experience. Basically he says not to expect too much, but nobody has ever complained...as if we would! Great to have a local around anytime! We'll be taken care of :)
Centre stage hey? A bit of a dancer yourself? No it's better to at least get the pronunciation and a bit of grammer under your belt. CDs help if you have the motivation and foundation - what's the use of pronouncing something wrong and they don't understand??!! Some people do speak pretty good English in Brazil though.
Yes yes I'm off to Rio and can't wait! I'm also a gap year student though I'm just starting rather than just finishing uni...what are you gonna be doing in Rio? x
Ha, im sure you'll acclimatise to the heat soon enough, what doesnt kill you wil make you stronger;-) Im just gonna chill in Argie for a week, no specific plans as of yet. Flights from NZ to SA only land in Argie or Chile so figured I may as well make it an extended stop over.
Just managed to score myself a one year work visa to Canada, so will head that way after Brazil. Im so excited YUSS;-)
Catch ya Bud.
Hey matie!! Yeah I'll be going same time as you!! A good place to start is:

Best thing to do is go get classes to learn grammar and vocab. I learn from Cactus languages...not sure if they have classes near you though. I would recommend them! I tried to learn from CDs, but I don't have the motivation and there's some things that I just didn't understand so it's better to have a teacher to guide you.
Anyway!!! We need to get tickets to Sambadrome....I wonder if i-to-i organise a deal for us!! S what volunteer activity are you doing that brings you here?
Cindy
Gap year?! Not really sure what that is, (I think we call it OE over here, haha) but yeah, just finnshing up my degree and plan on doing a bit of travel for a few years.
Travel round South.A sounds awesome, lucky thing, im going to Argentina for a week before Brazil but thats about it. Thought about doing Machu Picchu, but apparently its scorching hot at that time of year, so ill give it a miss, but it'll give me a good exuse to return at a later date.
Where else in South.A are you off to?
