I can't believe it has been just over a year since I went to Rio de Janeiro. wow does time fly. As much as I told myself I'd be back to visit, I didnt make it happen (yet) but thank goodness, cause I've heard it is like 46C or so in the city at the moment, and just crazy busy.
Id love to go to Rio de Janeiro again (as you know, hahaha) to do some volunteer work but would certainly do it sometime during the year. I was thinking - there are heaps of travellers and volunteers that head there for world famous Carnaval which is great for themselves, but the children at the projects dont get that much help throughout the rest of the year, and thats when they need it most!

Hi Dani. The Favella Renovation project is great. just go with the flow. I was in Julio Otoni community. Life is at a different pace in Rio de Janeiro so just enjoy your time there and get a feel for the people and the culture. Learn any Portuguese you can (download podcasts from iTunes maybe?) so you can have a chat and a laugh with the locals. As for musts, it depends on the weather of course, but Ipanema Beach and Copacabana are no doubt musts, as is Corcovado and Pão de Açúcar. The views are amazing. Keep only the money that you need with you and your atm or credit card tucked away and dont walk around with your camera flapping around your neck or you'll be asking to get it pinched
Hey Androyd....so im off to Brazil on the 5th of June, never been before but very excited and seeing as you seem to be the country's biggest advocate i thought id ask you for some advise base don your experience over there!!
What project did you do out there? Im working on the Favella Renovation project and Im sure theres tonnes of amazing things to experience over there but is there anything you would recommend as being something i must go see or do??
Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
