Hope you don't mind but I'm shamelessly begging for votes as the closing date for voting is fast approaching (in 4th place right now!) and SO many people seem to not be able to vote I need extra extra votes!!
This competition literally means everything to me. I'm now truly beginning to discover who I am, and find the path I need to be on. Winning this trip of a lifetime, one that from a financial point of view I cannot ever really seeing myself being able to afford, would literally change my life, shake up my world and give me another perspective. I beg of you to vote for me more than any other competitor, because not only would I use up every single second of it to the nth degree and make the absolute most of it, I think it would make the most of me. A way to make new connections, spark new possibilities, and give light and hope. A trip to expand and explore, my location and my own mind. A trip. Of a lifetime. PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

Hola Andrea! Great to read that you are interested in possibly doing some volunteer work in my country, Ecuador. We offer a variety of volunteer activities: conservation, teaching, community development, animal rehabilitation. Please have a look at this link and you will be able to get more info and also feedback from volunteers who have done the different projects. Keep in touch!!!

Where are you based at the moment Andrea? We're up in Leeds UK but I couldn't see if you were living in the UK or elsewhere? It's freezing here today, makes me want to book a flight now!
Muffins are easy - that's all I can make now :) they sell well too trust me! I'm still getting over how much I spent in Kenya so I think I'll be off in 2010 now. Perhaps India or maybe Zambia, maybe EVERYWHERE!!!! I can't decide so maybe I'm not the best person to ask hey? :) There's so much to choose from so make sure you take time to think about what you want from your trip; relax, beach based, city based, weather etc work with children, animals, building or go on a tour. it's all up to you!
helloooo, good to hear from you! I did a bit of fundraising before I went to Mombasa (I only booked to go to Uganda 3 weeks before I was due to go so didn't get much time) I baked a huge batch of muffins to sell in the i-to-i office here and people were incredibly generous! my tip is to catch people at prime time munchies time! 11am worked for me as people were desperate for sugar! If I couldn't bake one week people in the office were very kind and baked for me instead which was appreciated. It's great how many people get on board once you get started and it was really fun although I put on a few pounds licking the spoon each time! :)
Hi Andrea! I'm so happy that you are looking at going to Ecuador! If there's enough room in your luggage I'll come too! Have a look at http://www.i-to-i.com/volunteer-south-america.html?pagefilter=6 to get an idea of our trips in Ecuador and how much they cost. Spending money is entirely down to you and what project you are based at (rural or more urban based makes a huge difference to budget!) so let me know what you think! Katie
Id like to hear from people who have done voluntry wor during a gap year, or anyone in general...
