I'm heading to Mombasa in mid October and am wondering if it's true that you can get a visa on arrival into Kenya? Their embassy website in Aus says you need to get one beforehand but my i-i info pack says you get it on the way in. Can anyone who has been recently confirm this?
Thanks!!
Sarah
Heya, ok so I bascially want to know wat its like, mombasa, I go in jan for 2 wks, so very excited :)
cheers,
Lisa..
hey twigg, i see that you have been to mombassa. I am going in april for two weeks. did you travel on your own or in a group.? i will be going on my own and would appreciate any advice you may have. i willl be doi g the community work with children. thanks, marie
Oh fantastic, thanks for all the info! Sounds like you had a great time, did you do any travelling after the placement? Do many volunteers do that or just stay for the placement then fly home? Were you there last summer? What was the weather like? I've literally only learnt the basics so far! the inside page of the lonely planet swahili book, essential phrases! Did you take a mobile and get a local sim out there? tryna work out how im gona stay in conatct with family etc x x x
No i've never done anything like this before, but i've volunteered with disabled children at my college and love kids in general so i hope i'll do ok!
Well i'm really looking forward to the care aspect of the project, and just helping looking after the children who are orphaned and need some extra love and care and attention, and getting to know all of them :) I need to get learning a wealth of games to play and songs to teach them! But saying that I can't wait to stand in front of a class and (try to) teach them english or maths - i'm trying to learn a little swahili before i go out, i assume the children speak that and don't have very much english?
And yes I'm staying at the volunteer house in Mombasa-did you stay there? Were there many other volunteers staying there also? How did you get to and from new hope everyday?
(sorry about all the questions! i'm trying to be as prepared as possible :)
hope you are well
xxxxx

Hiya
Hope you don't mind but I'm shamelessly begging for votes (in 5th place right now!)
This competition literally means everything to me. I'm now truly beginning to discover who I am, and find the path I need to be on. Winning this trip of a lifetime, one that from a financial point of view I cannot ever really seeing myself being able to afford, would literally change my life, shake up my world and give me another perspective. I beg of you to vote for me more than any other competitor, because not only would I use up every single second of it to the nth degree and make the absolute most of it, I think it would make the most of me. A way to make new connections, spark new possibilities, and give light and hope. A trip to expand and explore, my location and my own mind. A trip. Of a lifetime. PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!
