Hiya
Hope you don't mind but I'm shamelessly begging for votes as the closing date for voting is fast approaching (in 5th place right now!) and SO many people seem to not be able to vote I need extra extra votes!!
This competition literally means everything to me. I'm now truly beginning to discover who I am, and find the path I need to be on. Winning this trip of a lifetime, one that from a financial point of view I cannot ever really seeing myself being able to afford, would literally change my life, shake up my world and give me another perspective. I beg of you to vote for me more than any other competitor, because not only would I use up every single second of it to the nth degree and make the absolute most of it, I think it would make the most of me. A way to make new connections, spark new possibilities, and give light and hope. A trip to expand and explore, my location and my own mind. A trip. Of a lifetime. PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

The family are lovely and the spanish is improving rapidly, although I seem to have mostly learnt about pickaxes, concrete and floors so far.
The weather was very hot the first week but it´s cooling down a bit this week.
Here´s the volcano photos from a chap I met with a proper camera: http://picasaweb.google.com/DougAnitaOClub/DougHagaArenalVolcano2009
Hi again, I'm already in Costa Rica on the building project and my family tells me you're also staying with them in a couple of weeks time.
There are currently three of us in San Ramon, and at least 6 more coming tomorrow.
The weekends feel quite short, but I've already visited a couple of volcanos and done the zip wires. La Fortuna is great for a weekend - they've got most activities and is relatively easy to reach direct from San Ramon.
hey hey
yeah well we are both in the Alajuela province :) it looks stunning! After my project finishes on the 25th of October I have a week where I haven't organised anything, then I'm doing a GAP tour which I booked through STA travel. You travel around on a bus (and occasionally boat) for 14 nights and visit reserves, the caribbean, pacific, volcano region, cloud forest etc. I really recommend it! But I am leaving on the 15th of November, straight after the tour ends! So why did u decide to do the project, and why did u choose CR? :)
Hey Rosanna,
I'm definitely keen for some weekend trips, but I think it's down to the volunteers to organise them - the volcanos and zip wires sound great.
One weekend I'd like to nip to Grenada whilst I'm there and the Ticabus seems the way to go.
We're a bit unorganised really...! Our placement is the 4weeks of October and we plan to do some trips at the weekends and then we have two weeks afterwards to travel...so we plan to do a little bit more Costa Rica and maybe Nicuragua?? Do i-to-i organise any weekend trips or do volunteers do that amongst themselves, as it'd be great to have some travel buddies to go on them with!
Hey Rosanna,
My boyfriend and I are going to be working at the Community Development Project in Palmeres from the 4th October. From what I know...Palmeres and San Ramon are small towns next to each other so if you are there around the same time it'd be great to catch up with you. I have been learning Spanish for a year now and it's so much fun...although when I speak to a Spanish person my mind goes blank! ooops!

Hi Rosanna, i am from england, i intend to do as much travelling every weeken if i can, volcanoes, cloud forests, zip wires, ruins, hiking, white rafting?? there are so many things to do and i want to experience all of them not really sure where i will be going but will be planning weekends away when i get there and establish what the transport links are like. It was great to get your message and i hope to hear back if you have any plans?
Paul
Hi Rosanna,
Great to hear from you, well it is all getting real know for me i fly out in two weeks to Honduras. I have not really made any plans to travel to specific places but like you the volcanoes seem like a great oppotunity to experience new and different things. I am also looking forward to doing some hiking through the vast amount of national parks and canopy tours this sounds like a lot of FUN. I am not a very strong swimmer but have contemplated doing a white water rafting experience?? As you know i am spending two months in Honduras on a similar project and travelling down over land through Nicaragua before getting to CR at the beginning of october. I hope to put up some posts when i am in honduras so keep a look out for me on here.
How long are you on the project in CR San Ramon? who are you staying with have they told you?
Keep in touch and i am still learning spanish which is great but just not sure if will be able to understand anyone when i am there as they all seem to talk very quickly.
Adios for know.
Paul
