Campfire is i-to-i's Travel community.
It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!
Q: What is i-to-i campfire? A: It's the online community of the meaningful travel specialists i-to-i.com
I'm 23 from Bridlington, currently living in Leeds studying Social Work at the Met. This year i spent my summer in Peru and Bolivia. I spent 4 weeks teaching English and sports in an orphanage in Lima before travelling. Really fell in love with Peru so i plan on going back next year to volunteer again, this time in Arequipa.
Plan to fly into Rio and see a bit of Brazil and Argentina before i start work. Would love to hear from anyone who's travelled here to pass on tips and advice :)
We've been sending people to volunteer in Africa, Asia, Australasia...
Hey so I'm Mel, I'm planning a trip out to...
I LOVE travelling! To date, I have been to Japan,...
I've been to Honduras, Kenya and Uganda with i-to-i, 26...
Hello! I'm Claire- half Japanese, half English, manic curly hair,...

Hiya
Hope you don't mind but I'm shamelessly begging for votes as the closing date for voting is fast approaching (in 5th place right now!) and SO many people seem to not be able to vote I need extra extra votes!!
This competition literally means everything to me. I'm now truly beginning to discover who I am, and find the path I need to be on. Winning this trip of a lifetime, one that from a financial point of view I cannot ever really seeing myself being able to afford, would literally change my life, shake up my world and give me another perspective. I beg of you to vote for me more than any other competitor, because not only would I use up every single second of it to the nth degree and make the absolute most of it, I think it would make the most of me. A way to make new connections, spark new possibilities, and give light and hope. A trip to expand and explore, my location and my own mind. A trip. Of a lifetime. PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

Hey Paul! So, tell me, what are you really looking for to see here in Brazil? If you're more interested in seeing great landscapes, enjoying nature and also having a historical view of Brazil's history I'd recommend you to come indeed to Rio and Iguaçu, but honestly, you will not find anything like that in Sao Paulo. Some friends of mine say that SP looks like NY but with less good stuff. haha
Our football season starts off in about the end of april-may. The first championships are just regional ones and about two months later the national and international ones start aswell. You're right, Brazil is much more expensive than Peru. The richer the country is, the more expensive things are. If you could rent a hostel for the time you stay here you wouldn't spend much money. Food here isn't very expensive if you buy them in the right places. For example, here in Rio you'd stay somewhere named "South Zone". There everything is more expensive but you could of come to the centre and have lunch/dinner at a great and cheaper place or something. Message me if you want to know something else! Cheers, man!
Hi Paul. I didn't actually go 2 Brazil in the summer. My sister decided 2 get married (last minute) so I had to stay 4 that. I ended up goin 2 Belguim 4 the GP & EuroDisney instead.
Hopefully nxt summer I will b able 2 go 2 Brazil.
Hey Paul I'm going to Peru (Cusco) in June 2010 so any tips and advice you've got would be great! I'm also trying to get form Cusco to Buenos Aires after my placement is over - can arrangements be done easily from Cusco do you know? I can't wait to get to Cusco! Hope my TEFL teaching skills are good enough by the time I get there!
Hi- thanks for accepting my friend request!
And good luck with Peru- i might be going next summer but not sure right now. :D

Hello... thought I'd just say hi!! I see you're going to South America; I plan to go to Peru after my trip to South Africa (have to save up some pennies). South America looks like an amazing place to visit... are you teaching while you're out there?
Teaching will eb amazing! I'd love to have done something like that as well, but languages are ot my strong point and my spanish is practically non existant!
I've got an extra night in Lima at the end of my tour and my return ticket is flexible so if find I want to stay on I can. When are you finishing your overland tour? are you going with a group of mates?
