About Me
I'm older than I like to admit to! I have a 19 year old son who I adore. I love travelling but can't afford to do it as much as I would like to. I'm going to Xian on 7th October 2011 to work in an orphanage for 5 weeks. It's the first time I've travelled on my own so I'm excited and nervous.

Had a much better day today. I have been helping 2 tour guides from the hanyangling museum practice their English in preparation for a competition in a few weeks time. It was great fun and rewarding. They have to read an article about some if the pieces of work that they like from the museum and are competing against 100 others I hope I helped them! I'm hoping to find out how they do as...

Well, it was my 2nd day at the school today, found it really hard. All of the children are disabled and some can be quite violent, mind you so can the teachers! I have worked with disabled children before so knew what they could be like but the teachers have been hitting, kicking and stabbing the children with whatever is to hand, I want to say something but none of them speak any english and...

Well there is a spare bed atm and four people are leaving tomoro so nOne of us can see why there should be a problem. Unless they are just trying to get out of bringing you. If not a couple are coming home tomoro and the rest of us will be back on Friday x
Quick update I'm not coming at all this week now as I've been told there is not enough room. So I'll either come with you on Sunday when you go back or come next Tuesday. Bit disappointed but never mind! See you Friday x
Yeh ok that's kool we'll hopefully see you tomoro. Bring some warm clothes and waterproof. X
As you may have gathered i'm not coming today :-( didn't get back from the museum until about 30 mins ago. The clothes I posted have arrived and I am trying to make them understand that I am going to the panda reserve not the school to take the clothes. It's proving to be hard work! I'm hoping Peter will get here soon as his English is better. X
i slept really badly last night, some new people arrived about 11.45 and woke me up was not impressed! I couldn't be bothered to get up and introduce myself so I have no idea how many of them there are? As your bedroom door was shut and I heard snoring suspect that there maybe a few in there think the other have gone to the other apartment. Hope your ok? Hope to see you tonight x
Hmm still not sleeping very well. Think I need to come back to the city apartment for a while. Yeh it will be good if you could come tomOro night instead... This couple of weeks are all a bit odd!
Hi, hows it going? I've had a hard day (see my journal update), hope your enjoying yours more. Teaching at the museum tomorrow which is good as I need to take in things that have happened today. No one else has arrived yet, have no idea if they will or not? Know the way into the city by bus now and its only 2 yuen so much cheaper and not too crowded! What were the shocks you encountered or would you rather tell me when I see you? I've been honest in my journal perhaps a bit too much?! I might try and come to you on weds night, then I'll have all day thurs & fri thats if I can get there as its been raining so much? I'll speak to Peter later. Wow lucky you, didn't sleep til about 4 again last night! Did our first stint with the pandas. Sounds like you had about as reasonable day as we did. Yeh, keep us updated about when you're coming. Think the others might come back on thursday night. Keep in touch :)
Hi yeah I realised halfway to the bus! Yesterday was all very confusing. Dora the English name for the girl that took me yesterday is greatn't at talking English and no one at the orphanage speaks English either. We went to some offices on the subway yesterday have no idea why I think they were trying to get some money from them? Had loads of pictures taken which wasn't great as I looked like a wreck! Met a few of the kids yesterday they were at the park when I got there then they had lunch when they got back then they had a 2hour sleep so it wasn't for long. I slept well last night went to bed at 7 woke up at 11.30 for about an hour then slept through till 7.30 it was amazing. Will let you know what's happening Thursday asap. Hope the rain stops! Xx
