Ive now booked the flights so theres no turning back now. Ive discovered more about the project. El Refugio (The Refuge) is a home for 60 children in Posadas, a town in North Argentina bordering with Paraguay. Some children have been abandoned, some abused and other are orphans. My accomodation will be a 3 bedroom apartment lived in by a lady called Catalina about 1.8km from the refuge. Possibly will be sharing with another 1 or 2 volunteers. I look forward to catching the bus everyday with the locals and experiencing a bit of local life. I have booked flight to Buenos Aires via Sao Paolo, Brazil and leave London on January 20th arriving in Ezeiza airport, BA on 21st. Im going to stay in BA until the following evening before hopping over to Aeroparque Jorge Newberry where domestic flights depart from. Ive been there before in 2002 when my friend Tim and I flew to Montevideo in Uruguay for a few days. From there its a 75 minute flight to Posadas, my home for four weeks. Once I leave Posadas on the 19th February I am planning to travel South by bus to Buenos Aires, stopping off in Argentina's second biggest city Cordoba for a few days before going onward to BA for a few more days prior to flying home on the 26th, my birthday. My weekends at the project are free and I am hoping to go to Iguaza Falls, the second largest waterfalls in the world, which sit on the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Also Posada is in the Missiones province, so there are lots of Jesuit missions to see as well. Looking forward to it immensely, although still a long way off
