Things We Learned At Grandsons
1. Buy them lots of fruit (from the stand one block up from the Safaricom building).
2. If you buy sweets, give them to Simon to distribute.
3. Eat lunch at the Half London Bar - the foods wonderful!
4. Don't play favourites.
5. It's okay to give them your camera or phone - you will get it back! And you'll get some great pics in return.
6. They aren't currently in school so you'll need something to do! We enjoyed football, bubbles, painting, bat and ball....
7. Pick up one of those 80 movies on one disk DVDs - they love Michael Jackson and action movies.
8. If you have the chance, spend the day at the other projects - ours is definitely the best!
9. The matatu only costs 20 bob regardless of what Isiah tells you.
10. If you have long hair, bring a hairbrush - you'll need it!
11. The boys make beautiful jewellery.
12. Don't be afraid to break up fights - they would never hurt you.
13. Ask Simon for gift ideas - we painted the roof, classrooms would be nice :)
14. The boys are incredible, funny, smart, loving, thoughtful.... LOVE THEM.
15. Whenever you have a bad day you can take a tuktuk from town to Grandsons - for 300 shillings.
16. NO CASH for the boys, we shouldn't have to say this, but we do.
17. Your last day will be painful, no matter what you do to prevent it.
Wishing everyone who goes there lots of luck, send our love to the boys,
Emma and Jennifer.

Thanks for feedback. Please note that comment number 9 is very misleading. Matatus are not like the buses in UK or USA where prices are fixed. While the touts may be willing to give a discounT depending on how busy or not the route is note that the correct price is KSH 30 (KENYA SHILlING THIRTY). Also note incase of excessive traffic jam this rate may go as high as the tout or driver wants.
This is really useful! Glad you had such a great time!
