School is finally out

So, lessons have finished after a crazy week at Grandsons, and my objective is now to organise activities for the boys! So we are handprinting this week, and playing with bats and balls, and whatever else me and Jennifer can cook up for them! On wednesday is the big election of course, so I won't be going to project then, as everyone will be voting the big constitution vote.
Some of the boys got new clothes this week, which was nice, and they have all had haircuts! They are all very pleased with themselves. They are also very happy about having no lessons in the mornings - which may come as a surprise to some, after all, all children love school.
Me and Jennifer also explored the area a bit more this week, and if you walk up to Nazarene school (the boys will happily show you the way) there are some of the most amazing views I have ever seen.
The boys had a big discussion this week, about house rules and respect, and what they want from the house, which was extremely interesting. We've had an influx of older boys come in, who have been at boarding school I gather, so are now home for the holidays. And they were talking to the younger boys about how important it is to get an education, and learn things. It was such a change from trying to keep the boys attention on fractions for one thing! And I think that they respect it more coming from one of them.
It also gave me a huge insight into the feelings in the house - I don't speak Swahili (apart from the odd few phrases) so I was watching the kids more than listening to them, and you can spot the ones who are serious about making something of their lives. You can also see the ones who will need a bit more work!
So the air has been cleared now and we're ready for a week of fun! Expect paint, mud, chalk and smiles from now on!
