Hi all, I am a fun loving down, young at heart 40 year old that loves to travel. Have travel quite a bit over the years, but this will be my first trip to South Africa and to a Volunteer Group like this. Only booked 5 weeks out, so heaps to do and so looking forward to the experience.

Hi All I am off on the 11th August for 2 week to Work with Lions. Just wondering if anyone has recently done this trip and able to advise if there are any cubs there at the moment. Cheers Donna

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountJust got back from the Lion Park, and what can I say, it's the most Amazing trip ever. To be able to get up close and interact with the cubs everyday was beyond words. Recommend this trip to everyone.

Well when i got there it was pretty cold in the evening and had to go buy gloves and another jumper! But it has begun to warm up. It is pretty warm in the days it just gets a bit cold a night so just make sure you take a few jumpers and your be fine!

Just left the lion park and had the most amazing time! You will love it!
Yes there are some cubs there at the moment who are all really lovely! My favourite was tubby!

Hi Donna, hope you're getting excited about heading of to South Africa so soon!
The park is a breeding centre so there will always be lions of all ages there. I'm sure you'll get to have some hands-on time with the little ones!
You're right, there are currently 3 people starting on 11th August, although 3 more will arrive in your second week, so there'll be 6 of you for your last week at the project =)
I'd recommend checking out hostelworld.com for accomodation in Cape Town. It's a great website and I use them myslef! You could also ask the i-to-i team in South Africa for some advice when you get out there =)

So off to work at the Lion Park from 11-24 August, and while this may be a silly question, was wondering if there are cubs there at the moment, not sure when their breeding season is. Or do they always have cubs there?
