Going to Kenya!

Hi everyone. I'm off to Kenya from the 24th July until the 14th August this year to do community work near Mount Kenya. It's the first time i've ever been that far away from home on my own (despite being almost 26!) so would love to hear from anyone who is doing a similar thing!

Hi Gill, great to know you're going to be there too, i'm sure it'll be an amazing experience! You must be really excited as you're flying in a couple of days! I hope you have a great first week and look forward to meeting you when over there!

Hi Anna
I'm going on the same placement but from the 16th of July to the 6th of Aug. So I'll see you out there.
I'm 28, did a similar trip to South Africa a few years back. Can't wait, half excited half nervous.

Jambo!

This is an eye opener and once in a life time experience, there are different projects that you will have a chance to visit and work in all with very friendly, big smiled children, however very needy.

Your time with them will be one of giving hope, showing that someone out there cares for them and being a role model to them. The kids will be all over you playing and calling you mzungu (Swahili word for white person, not offensive) hence you need to learn and practice your Swahili skills and get ready for a life changing experience for the better.

Am Priscilla's deputy and together with others here will make this a memorable experience for you. Your host family are just out of this world, hospitable, friendly and ready to share their experiences and culture with you. They are also the project managers of Toto care project and coordinators of all the programs here.

Asante sana.
