Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's AwardThe Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a program of activities designed to aid the personal development of young people aged 14 -25.  It challenges you, it inspires you and it even improves your career prospects!

There are three levels to the Award:

Participants usually work their way through the Award Levels but you can skip straight to Silver or Gold if you’re prepared to undertake an extra six months of Service, or the longer Skills or Physical Recreation Sections.

How can we help you fulfill the criteria of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

There are two ways that we can help…

TEFL

Our TEFL courses are a great way to fulfill the Skills Section. You’ll be fully trained to teach English anywhere in the world so it’s great for people who want to travel in the future!

What course can you take?

We offer a range of TEFL courses but they aren’t all applicable for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Here’s a list of the ones that are:

How long will it take?

Bronze Award Bronze Award

You’ll need to complete your course over at least three months.

Silver Award Silver Award

You’ll need to complete your course over a minimum of three months (if you have chosen the short Skills Section) or a minimum of six months (if you have chosen the extended Skills Section).

Gold Award Gold Award

Our TEFL courses will only be applicable if you’ve chosen the short Skills Section. Your course will need to be completed over at least six months.

Volunteer Travel Experiences

Our Volunteer Travel Experiences are a great way to fulfill the Residential Section of your Gold Award. You’ll have a unique travel experience in an amazing location and you’ll be doing something really worthwhile!

What can you do?

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities for teenagers so you can choose one that suits you!

If you’re over 18 you can choose any one of our incredible Conservation, Community Development, Teaching or Building projects. We work with 500 different projects in 25 different countries so you’ll be spoilt for choice! To pick your project click here.

If you’re between 16-18 you can choose from our range of Summer Specials. These youth volunteer programs have been specially designed for the younger traveler so you can have an incredible experience without reducing your parents to a bag of nerves!

How long will you be away?

In order to fulfill your Gold Award Residential Project you will need to be away for a minimum of 5 days. Our volunteer travel experiences have a minimum stay of two weeks but you could choose to stay away for much longer if you wanted.

Can you travel in groups?

Participants should travel alone but you may travel with one other person you already know, in some cases...
